Mission Statement

Proyecto 34°S is an independent artistic exchange project with a focus on contemporary African and Latin American theatre and the performing arts.

Proyecto 34˚S will:

• Produce festivals, events and workshops which enable active artistic exchange between the diverse peoples and cultures of Africa and Latin America.
• These activities aim to foster creative relationships and dialogue as well as artistic appreciation, social consciousness and cultural understanding.

• Proyecto 34˚S also works within other disciplines, such as photography, literature and the visual arts.

• Founded in 2008, Proyecto 34˚S takes its name from the 34°S line of latitude that links Buenos Aires, Argentina and Cape Town, South Africa, the first two cities to be actively involved in the exchange.

• In 2009, Proyecto 34˚S was nominated in the category of “Institution” by the Teatro del Mundo theatre awards in Argentina.
